Our 2001 SD and TV were totaled (we were ok). The insurance offered $2500. We paid $9000 for it 5 years ago. It was a plain Jane, no expensive upgrades, etc. Our insurance is Farm Bureau, and the local agent was helpful but her hands were tied without comps to present to the adjusters (who never heard of Casita, though it was in Texas). I posted all of this online and Eileen immediately contacted me and sent me the information. I forwarded it to my agent, and two weeks later we got $8000. About 2 months later, we got our $500 deductible from the offenders insurance company.
I HIGHLY recommend the Sold Casitas, it was very well done and easy to navigate.

My insurance company was undervaluing my Casita by quite a bit. Eileen offered to send me the comps for my Casita showing the Asking Prices for the last five years. I sent it to my insurance company and after reviewing the data, they increased my coverage to an amount five times higher.

Just to let you know your info helped tremendously. I listed and sold my Casita for the asking price -- literally what we paid for it after 2.5 years of use. We were very sad to see Pearl hitched to another toad, but she went to older first-time RVers who are great people, so that was good. They came from Wichita, Kansas to El Paso to pick her up. Hi Eileen,
Just a note to thank you for sending the ‘Sold Casitas’. We bought or ’07 FD barely used 14 years ago, and the time had come to let her go. We knew Casitas “hold their value”, but we had no idea they sell for significantly more than when new! We just hadn’t been paying attention because, until now, the thought of selling was never a consideration.
Seriously, we were thinking selling for around $12,500, about what we paid originally. Your ‘Sold Casitas’ said $18,500 should be more like it.
So, with quite a bit of hesitancy, we listed for $18,000 on the Facebook and fiberglassRV site. One day later our Casita rolled away hitched to the new owner’s truck, with four buyers waiting in line if the deal fell through.
I’d say the Casita was priced right and ended up a great deal for both us and the new owners: Thanks to you!
We’ll miss our Casita terribly, and we’ll miss you and all the comments and information you have posted over the years.
